Jeff Yih Spinning at 45 RPM - March 29, 2007 : Instead of letting Jeff deal with the headache of planning a big birthday bash, this year's Jeff's friends planned a SURPRISE birthday party! It was hard to keep a secret, but very exciting! So, on Jeff's 45th birthday, he was kidnapped and subjected to ... the Ritz Carlton for drinks and live piano jazz music with MOI only (he was led to believe it would be just a romantic evening for two), followed by quick-stop back at my place where the SCARE! errr, SURPRISE, occured! Friends from past and present jumped out from their hiding spaces and surprised Jeff. Then we celebrated with sangria, pizza, hors d'eouvres, cake, ice cream, a giant birthday card, flowers, and presents. Then we went to Harry Denton's Starlight Room for 80s night, Le Colonial for the Martini Bros, Sotano for Karaoke, and back to my place to polish off the last of the cake and pizza. DJ Hep Jen helped us get a birthday jam for Jeff at Le Colonial, too! Jeff was amazing in the jam, sliding all over the place. I still can't believe we did all of this in one night, and on foot, no cars involved! We only have pictures from the surprise birthday party, but we had so much fun, the whole night. And Eugenia and Michael Lyons joined the group at Le Colonial. THANK YOU to everyone who sent Jeff happy birthday wishes ... Jeff keeps mentioning how much of all this meant to him. The only dark lining in the silver cloud is: how will we top this, next year? ;-) Hope you enjoy the pics!

Love on Wheels for the SF Bike Coalition - February 2006 : What fun! I had a blast as Bachelorette #2 on the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's Love on Wheels Dating Game. Even more fun was watching all the other adorable and insanely witty contestants, especially the bachelor seeking bachelor and bachelorette seeking bachelorette groups ... ohmigaw! Crazy go nuts, pee in your pants funny!

Vegan Thanksgiving 2005 : Mike, Joanna, and Jordan hosted an abundant vegan Thanksgiving pot-luck dinner at Mike and Joanna's home in El Sobrante (East Bay hills). We gathered for dinner, feasted on an amazing array of vegetarian dishes ... there was so much delicious, nourishing food, it was a real blessing. After dinner, we assembled the group (including many animal companions) for a hike up the hills on the trails adjacent to Mike and Joanna's house, where we saw a spectacular sunset. When we got back, it was time for dessert! This was one of the nicest Thanksgiving Days I've ever experienced. Thanks to Mike and Joanna for opening up your beautiful home to us, and many thanks to everyone who contributed so much to this day.

Bay to Breakers 2005-05-16 : San Francisco's 12K race, established in 1912. In 2005, there were 40,000 registered runners and 65,000 total. We finished 30,121st place in 4 hrs, 35 min. Mayor Gavin Newsom finished in 60 min, 3 sec!

Bay to Breakers 2002 : Whew! This was the time when I ran the whole thing in the rain! I hadn't eaten since the day before and was starving, but there was no free food anywhere, except for the BEER from these rugby guys' tiki-shopping-cart-keg! So I ran with these guys for the whole race, fortified along the way by Sierra Nevada pale ale! We had a blast doing running keg stands, as you see pictured here. We even got the gorilla to do it! When we got to the ocean, it was still raining, and very windy! I started shivering and shaking, I had nothing dry and warm to put on. In fact, all I had with me was what you see in that little pouch I had around my waist. I did have my cell phone and called my sweetheart ... he was going to drive to pick me up, but a bus came by and I decided to get on, so I could get warm faster. I took the bus to my sweetie's place, and he had a warm towel and hot shower all ready for me, plus a nice bowl of hot miso soup! It was a fantastic day.

Bay to Breakers 2004 - Photos from Ruben : It was a classic battle of the sexes ... the studly sperm locked heads with our feminine birth control measures, fighting for control of the EGG ... which was actually a KEG of beer ... the war raged on from the shores of the San Francisco Bay, all the way through the streets of San Francisco, until reaching the Pacific Ocean. A peace truce was called upon reaching the Footstock concert in Golden Gate Park, where both sides had to work together to finish the last of the keg in record time. At FootstocK, everyone basked in the afternoon sunshine and music, not wanting the buzz to wear off. So we finished off the day with pitchers of margaritas at Chevys! Ahhh. What a day.
